Summer in Poinciana: fireworks, library activities

Save the Date! Poinciana’s Fireworks Spectacular will be on June 25 from 6-10 p.m. This pre-Independence Day celebration will be held at the Amphitheater Park (625 Country Club Road). There will be live bands, a Kid’s zone, food trucks and vendors. The evening will conclude with a musically synchronized laser and fireworks show. An estimated 1,500 to 2,000 will be in attendance. Here’s what’s going on this summer at the Poinciana Library (101 N. Doverplum Ave.):

The Summer Learning Beanstack Challenge 2022 is on! Read a total of 10 hours and earn badges for logging your time and attending a Library program.

Camp iRead Summer Learning kicks off on Friday (June 3), with DoDad’s Lab at 10 a.m. Professor DoDad and his new friend Citrus the Orange present KidFit, a show that shares the science of health and fitness with songs and science experiments.

Camp iRead presents Gnarly Creatures of Florida on June 8 at 10 a.m. Ms. Susan and Wilderness Chris share facts about various sinister Florida wildlife. Following the Gnarly, the Environmental Center of the Osceola County School District will hold a special program beginning at 11:30 a.m. that will take you off the beaten path. Jarin Trombley of the Environmental Center will bring the outdoors in! Go on an epic adventure starring Florida’s wild animals and eco-systems.

Then on June 15 at 10 a.m., Camp iRead will hold a STEAM Day. Join in on the adventure and see where your imagination takes you.

Teens have their own summer learning camp, Camp Survivor. Teens meet every Monday beginning June 6 at 5 p.m. Bring a white t-shirt to create a wild and whimsical tie-dye t-shirt creation.

All Library events are free and open to the public.
