Welcome to the first installment of the weekly Kissimmee column. This will be the weekly spot to get caught up on the happenings in the city.

We’re still making our way through summer in Florida, and summer camps are in full swing and are still expecting attendees over the coming weeks. With that said, not every student is able to attend financially. The City of Kissimmee has teamed up with the School District of Osceola County on the Dream Builders program, for families in transition. This free 7-week summer camp program is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, including meals, enrichments, filed trips and mentoring from trained staff. For more information reach out to City of Kissimmee’s Parks and Recreation Department at 407-518-2501.

Can’t stand the noise? The City of Kissimmee will be hosting a public workshop on Wednesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. in the City Commission chambers regarding ongoing noiserelated concerns. Many of the residents have noticed an increase in noise complaints in recent years, and the city plans on revising its current noise ordinance.

We Will Rock you is now playing at Osceola Arts Center. Come prepare to hear 20 of your favorite Queen songs as the show focuses on two revolutionaries trying to save rock n’ roll in the post-apocalyptic world were rock music is forbidden. This event does respect socially distancing requests. The show runs through July 31 with a 2 hour runtime. Showtimes are posted at www.osceolaarts.org or contact the box office 407-846-6257.

As Elton John said, “Saturday night’s the night I like,” what would be a better night to have car shows? Kissimmee has two amazing car shows on Saturdays.

You have the Saturday Nite Classic Car Show at Old Town. Take a trip down memory lane for a tradition that has been running for over 30 years. This is considered one of the premier weekly car shows in Central Florida. Get out and enjoy it every Saturday from 1-11 p.m. It’s located Old Town (5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy.) with free admission and parking.

Then there’s Show Car Saturday Nights on the west side at Promenade at Margaritaville (3251 Margaritaville Blvd.) from 4-10 p.m. More than ‘just’ a car show, this event has DJ Scotty B plus and array of the best regional live bands performing, making it a rockin’ good time. Food and drinks are available within the event. For more information call 407-338-4811.
