Stay cool at the pool Memorial Day weekend

Memorial Day is an American holiday observed on the last Monday in May, honoring men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It became an official federal holiday in 1971. Take a few moments to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice as you enjoy your holiday weekend.

On Saturday, slide into summer with a special Memorial Day Weekend event at the Victory Pool. A magician will entertain from noon to 12:30 p.m., plus there will be an inflatable water slide and lawn games at no cost between the Victory Pool and the APV Fitness Center.

For those who have annual passes or a day pass, enjoy poolside music with a DJ and games from 3 to 6 p.m.

To make a reservation (advanced reservations are required so as to stay within capacity limits), call 863-427-0900 ext. 501.

Bingo update: Bingo will be played at the Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Avenue, every Friday night. Bingo on Saturday nights will resume in the fall.

The jackpot is $100 (10 games for $5). Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7. You must be at least 18 to play.
