Don’t worry about snakes on a plane, worry about keeping them out of your home! Check out Venomous Snakes, presented by UF/IFAS Extension Osceola County, at the Veterans Memorial St. Cloud Library on Tuesday, July 11 from 1-2 p.m. Learn how to identify and avoid venomous snakes by knowing what snakes to look out for and keep them away from your home. The Florida Native Plant Society Pine Lily Chapter will hold a hike through the Lake Lizzie Preserve – South Loop, 6495 Old Melbourne Hwy., on Saturday, July 15 at 8 a.m. Look for native plants on this scenic trail. Operation VetFirst will present “Because of the Brave Festival” on Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Centennial Park (1214 10th St.) This local non-profit is looking to raise funds to assist veterans and first responders. As you read on the front page of this week’s News-Gazette, the City of St. Cloud recently received a $1.2 million Federal Transportation Grant to fund the Project Development and Environmental Study for the reconstruction of 10th Street from U.S. 192 to Narcoossee Road.
