Instead of throwing your tree in the trash, S.W.A.P. it out, and help the environment!

After you remove all the decorations, take your tree (artificial trees are not eligible) to the St. Cloud Civic Center on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  In return for the S.W.A.P. (St. Cloud Winning Arbor Patrol), you will receive a new containerized tree or palm, whatever best fits the needs of your home, to take back and plant.

The mulch that was the old tree will, in many cases, also be available. If you do not have an old tree, you can still participate. For more information, call 407-957-7243.

Here’s some new information on the 16th Annual Redneck Gala, held Jan. 28 from 5-10 p.m. at the Ranch (5452 Jones Road).

This fun filled evening boasts live entertainment from Bryan and the Barstool Prophets.  Originally from Killeen, Texas, Bryan James is a song writer with a passion for the older style of country music played by legends like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Hank Williams, Jr.  James’s last two albums debuted at No. 8 on the iTunes charts.  He has also played festivals with some big names in country music – Cody Johnson, Alan Jackson and Marty Stuart.  There will also be Redneck games, beer, wine and a steak dinner with all the fixings.  The silent auction has never seen before items to bid on.

The Redneck Gala is a fundraiser to help support the efforts of the St. Cloud Main Street program in their mission for economic development and historic preservation in Historic Downtown St. Cloud.  Tickets are $60 per person (early bird sale ends Jan. 16) and corporate tables (seats 8) are $600.
