In the month of February, with Valentine’s Day, it’s appropriate that the City of St. Cloud celebrates A Community Day of Love.
The free event honoring Black History Month is Feb. 26 from 12-4 p.m. at Hopkins Park (620 E. 17th St.). It’s a day of health and wellness for the community. There will be food and workout demonstrations, health and wellness checks, music, performers and more.

There are several other events at the Veterans Memorial St. Cloud Library (810 13th St.) recognizing Black History Month.
Discover the many accomplishments of civil rights activist Diane Nash in honor of her role in organizing the first historical walking protest in 1965. Nash, an African-American activist, lecturer and businesswoman, was prominently involved with integrating lunch counters through sitins, the Freedom Riders, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Selma Right-to-vote movement.
The documentary “Becoming: Michelle Obama” will be played Feb. 18 from 1-3 p.m. This in-depth documentary of former First Lady Michelle Obama’s life, hopes and connection with others while touring for her book.
Learn the History of African jewelry making on Feb. 21 from 3-4:30 p.m. Handcraft your very own wood beaded bracelet. Join local author G.B. Lynch to discuss her book, “We Are Still Suppose To Be Slaves: The Chronicles of Being Black in America” on Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. This novel, told through hidden histories brought forth into the spotlight, is a hard-to-put-down book.
All programs are free and open to the public.
Support the restoration efforts of the Narcoossee School House, built circa 1885 by attending their BBQ and baked goods sale on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This fundraising event is presented by the Narcoossee Area Chapter of the Osceola County Historical Society (5026 Yukon St.). Next Friday is Rodeo Day, and do your kids have nothing to do with the day off from school?
Rodeo Day Camp presented by St. Cloud Parks and Recreation is for children ages 5-12 at the St. Cloud Civic Center. The cost is $25 per day for residents and $35 for non-residents.
