Poinciana News — Prosper Night for students; what’s going in new Plaza

Attention 2023 Osceola County high school seniors! If you are interested in free college tuition to Valencia College or Osceola Technical College (OTech), Prosper Night will be held at Valencia College’s Poinciana Campus (3255 Pleasant Hill Road) on Feb. 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Soon it will be Ash Wednesday, then, Easter! Registration is open for Polk County Parks and Recreation’s Bunny Mail Program. Polk County Parks and Recreation will mail out notes from the Easter Bunny and his friends. One registration per household, register up to three children. It’s opening weekend! Southport Farmers Market, (2001 E. Southport Road), kicks off its inaugural event on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees may enjoy complimentary admission to the Butterfly Garden complete with butterfly nectar. Family games and bounce houses will be onsite. A variety of food trucks, crafts and fresh produce will be at this market, presented by Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures and Michelle Reuter Peters.

The Poinciana Library (101 N. Doverplum Ave.) will host a Community Blood Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 1-6 p.m. OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will be on site to receive your life saving donation. Face coverings must be worn. For more information, go to OneBlood.org.

Laurel Elementary School (1851 Laurel Ave.), will host its Spring Sale on Saturday, March 25. This a yard sale, craft sale, community gathering and meet and greet. Space is available. The cost is $12 for one or $20 for two – quite the bargain with an opportunity to sell your crafts or unwanted spring cleaning clutter.

Crunch Fitness announced last week that Crunch Poinciana will open in the Spring of 2024. The $5 million, 35,000 square foot fitness facility will be located in the newly-developed Poinciana Lakes Plaza (4690 Marigold Ave.)

Poinciana Lakes Plaza will consist approximately 205,000 square feet of Shopping Center space with six additional outparcels. Other leased space has reportedly been signed by ULTA, five below and America’s Best.
