Yes, summer break has just begun, but here is a “Save the Date” for the fall. Poinciana High School’s ninth-grade orientation will be held on Tuesday, July 18 and Thursday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day. Students will be able to circulate through four stations and will have the opportunity to learn graduation requirements, receive their laptop and ID as well as socialize with their peers. Students need only attend one session. Parents and guardians are welcome. Students must be present to receive their laptops and ID. RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/phsco27. The next Coffee & Conversation with HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital’s CEO Alex Romero takes place Wednesday, July 5 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Coffee & Conversation happens on the first Wednesday of every month. This is a chance for open dialogue about what matters to you when it comes to healthcare and services at Poinciana Hospital.

Sunshine State Youth Association presents Poinciana Wolf Pack Annual Car Show on Saturday, July 8 from 12-4 p.m. at Deerwood Park (4051 Laurel Ave.) If you have a vehicle you would like to enter, the registration fee is $25 ( motorcycle/ slingshots $20). There are several categories to compete in. Trophies will be awarded to “the best of ”. To register, call 321-346-8436. In addition to the car show, there will also be food, local vendors and activities for the kids.

Join Poinciana Library’s Creative Writing Workshop! Begin a new story or add on to a current one. Tackle different prompts and give and receive feedback. All skill levels are welcome and supplies are provided. Create a new story off of a displayed image on Thursday, July 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Exercise your B-RA-I-N (7 points) and make new F-R-I-E-N-D-S (9 points) by joining on Scrabble Mania on Wednesday, July 5 at 4 p.m. Game boards and dictionaries will be provided.

All Library programs are free and open to the public. The Poinciana Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.

 

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites Polk County residents to participate in and online Virtual Interactive Workshop for the SunRail Extension Study to Polk County.
