POINCIANA NEWS — Nightly Marigold Lane closures

There will be nightly lane closures at Marigold Avenue and Peabody Road beginning Sunday, Feb. 1, for approximately two months. Closures will take place Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Flaggers will direct traffic to the open side of the roadway. Drive with caution and expect delays during the overnight hours.

The closures are necessary to complete the installation of water and sewer pipes. For more information, call 407-349-4004.

 

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 1 celebrate African American Literature with Black History Month Reading Challenge at the Poinciana Library. This one-of-a- kind Bingo reading challenge requires you to complete 5 games on one card for a chance to win a prize. Pick-up a playing card at the Service Desk of the Poinciana Library. The winner will be contacted on Sunday, Mar. 1.

 

Have a say in the future of Poinciana by voting in the Association of Poinciana Village’s (APV) Board elections at the Poinciana Community Center on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vote for your Village representative; there are open seats on Village 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8. In order to vote, you must be named on the property deed. Only one vote per property. Government issued ID required, and you may only vote in your Village’s races.

 

HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital will host Orthopedic Care for Healthy Aging—Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 12-1 p.m. This educational opportunity focuses on how orthopedic care can support healthy aging and help older adults maintain mobility and independence. This session will provide general information on both non-surgical and surgical orthopedic care options commonly used to address joint health, mobility concerns and age-related orthopedic conditions. AARP Foundation Tax— Aide provides tax consulting with several preparation options. This service is free of charge, with special focus on those over 50 or have low to moderate income. From now to April 15th (Mondays only), from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tax—Aide will be at the Anthony DePalma Center, 395 Marigold Ave. These services will be available in both English and Spanish. Bezos Academy is accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year at Deerwood Elementary. This is a full-day pre-school for children ages of 3- 5 that is offered year-round at no cost for families that qualify. Applications are due Monday, Apr. 20.
