Poinciana News — New hours and events for Poinciana community pools

The Victory Pool (445 Marigold Ave.) and the Mary Jane Aquatic Center (625 Country Club Dr.), have updated their pool hours. Both locations will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (weather permitting). And, since Aloha is a Hawaiian word that means both “Hello” and “Good-bye,” say Aloha to summer 2022 at the Victory Pool on Sept. 24 from 6-9 p.m.

This adult party (ages 21+) features food, entertainment, DJ and cash bar. Wear your tropical shirts and skirts. Bring a bathing suit, towel and say “Aloha!” To register, go to https://bit.ly/3BbCVDi.

 

After a very dry summer, the rainy season finally arrived — and arrived and arrived! Areas of Polk County are extremely wet, which prompted Polk County to make sand bags available. Poinciana’s location is Poinciana Park, (5109 Allegheny Road) from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, including Sundays. A maximum of 10 sand bags will be provided to each household. Bring a shovel.

 

Hey, you big kids! There is still time to signup for community Adult Flag Football. The four-game season starts Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Games are played at Poinciana Park every Wednesday, with the last games Oct. 12. You can bring your own team of five (fee is $125 per team) or register as a single player (fee is $50). This 5-on-5 play has 12-minute halves. For more information, call 863-496-4730.

And, for the youth, ages 4- 17 can sign up for the NFL Youth Combine and Showcase on Oct. 2 at Poinciana Community Park. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This Poinciana Athletic League sponsored event will have athletes compete 40-yard dash, fastest man race, throwing accuracy drills, broad jump, shuttle test, the three-cone drill and one-on-one drills. The NFL Flag Scouting Combine allows each participant three opportunities to run each drill with the best time recorded. Save the date! It’s 2022 Fall Fest and APV’s Annual Trunk or Treat and Haunted House on Oct. 29 at the Poinciana Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.) Residents volunteer to decorate their vehicles with Halloween décor and distribute candy from the trunk of their car during this event. is free family event is open to all Poinciana residents.
