Poinciana News — meetings for CR 532, Poinciana Parkway expansion next week

Public meetings will be held next week for two major thoroughfares that service or impact the Poinciana area.

Segment 2 of Poinciana Parkway (State Road 538) will extend the four-lane expressway from south of US 17/92 to Osceola/Polk Line Road (County Road 532). That segment also includes an interchange at 17/92, tolled ramps at CR 532 and bridges over the CSX railroad, Old Tampa Highway and US 17/92.

A public information meeting will be held both in-person and virtually on Jan. 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Reunion Resort & Golf Club (7593 Gathering Dr.,) Grande Meeting Room E, Online virtual meeting will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Pre-register at https://bit. ly/ SR538ExtensionVPM (Link is case sensitive).

At the same time, the Central Florida Expressway Authority, with Osceola County, has begun design of the proposed capacity improvements of Osceola/ Polk Line Road from Lake Wilson Road to US 17/92. The proposed 3-mile project would improve roadway connections between the extension of Poinciana Parkway and I-4 via CR 532/ Osceola Polk Line Road.

The public information meeting for this project will be held both in-person and virtually on Jan. 18th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Reunion Resort & Golf Club. The online virtual meeting will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The goals of these projects, per CFX, are to reduce congestion and delays on local roads, enhance the mobility of the area’s growing population and enhance safety and regional connectivity.

The wait is over! Registration is now open for the sixth annual Poinciana Beautiful Homeowners Award Gala. This elegant black and white semi-formal event will be held Saturday, Jan. 28 from 7-10 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.) The Poinciana Beautiful Awards program is an opportunity to recognize homeowners who have kept their home’s exterior well maintained and cared for throughout the year. One home from each Village has been chosen by a group of independent judges.

The evening will feature live entertainment and dancing. In addition, there will be table-served hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, awards and recognitions and door prizes.
