A reminder that 2025-2026 Back to School Meet the Teacher events in Osceola County are this week. All Middle and K-8 Schools will host Meet the Teacher from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7. All Elementary Schools will host Meet the Teacher from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8.
A new AdventHealth facility will be coming to serve the Poinciana area later this year. Located at 4281 Pleasant Hill Road across from Liberty High School, the freestanding 24/7 ER will treat medical emergencies in adults and children, and offer diagnostic imaging, a full-service lab and a pharmacy. The ER helipad will enable patients who require more intense treatment to be airlifted to AdventHealth Kissimmee.
HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital will host a free Lunch and Learn with their Infection Prevention Director on how everyday hygiene habits impact your health on Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 12-1 p.m. Lunch is included with this session which will cover how germs are spread, what most people get wrong and how you can protect yourself and others. The Poinciana Library will host Meet the Garden Expert on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. Enhance your gardening skills with the support of the University of Florida/IFAS Master Gardener volunteers. These trained volunteers will assist you with your gardening questions and challenges. This same seminar will be held in Spanish at 2 p.m.
E.S.O.L. for Beginners takes place that Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. This class will help non-speakers become more familiar with the English language.
Thinking Money for Kids: Pet Cents takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This school age program allows kids to adopt a pretend pet and receive play money to take care of it. Make smart choices and budget your money to keep your pet happy and healthy without running out of cash. Thinking Money for Kids is an initiative of the American Library Association and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation.
All Library programs are free and open to the public. The Poinciana Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.
World Wrestling Championship Florida: Shots Fired III takes place at the Poinciana Recreation Center (397 Marigold Ave.) This pro wrestling Event takes place on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. Ring-side seats are $25 for adults and $10 for children. Save the date! The Association of Poinciana Village’s (APV) Annual Poolside Luau will be on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Victory Pool, 445 Marigold Ave. The pool area will be transformed into a tropical paradise with entertainment, food, music and a tropical cash bar with adult beverages.
