Join District 3 Osceola County School Board member Jon Arguello on Tuesday, July 18 from 6:308:30 p.m. at Oaks National Golf Club and meet Osceola County’s new School Superintendent Dr. Mark Shanoff. Teachers, parents, community members and business partners are welcome to attend.

 

Struggling to lose weight? HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital will hold a Decoding Weight Loss class on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the first floor Poinciana Room. There is a science to losing weight: calories burned must be greater than calories consumed. During this workshop you will learn how to read food labels, use a food scale and track your calories and nutrients using the My FitnessPal app. To register, go to bit.ly/46GEiHJ.

 

District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington will host a free drive-thru Summer food distribution on Saturday, July 22nd at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (3880 Pleasant Hill Road). Meal packages will be distributed on a first come-first served basis and while supplies last.

 

Love Makes Me Grow will host a Back to School Bash and Job Fair on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chestnut Elementary School (4300 Chestnut St.). The group is seeking additional sponsors for backpacks, school supplies and uniforms. Local businesses with current job opportunities are welcome. Registration for Poinciana Little League Fall Ball 2023 is now open! Registration runs until Sept. 10 with the season running from September to November (games begin the week of Sept. 25). Practice is one day a week minimum.

Division ages are: Tee ball, 4-6 year olds; Baseball, 6-8, 8-12 and 13-16; softball is 8-10, 11-12 and 13-16. The fee for registration is $125 per child.
