Join local author, historian and film maker Noemi Figueroa at the book launch presentation of her book “The Borinqueneers” on Saturday from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Poinciana Library (101 N. Doverplum Ave.)
The 65th Infantry Regiment was nicknamed the Borinqueneers in recognition of the original Taino Indian name for Puerto Rico, which was “Borinquen”. The Borinqueneers Regiment were active during the Korean War. The regiment’s motto is “Honor et Fidelitans,” Latin for “honor and fidelity.” The book is an inspiring collection of more than 700 rare photographs covering the glorious history of the 65th Infantry Regiment.
