The 2025 registration is now open for the Poinciana Predators Football and Cheerleading Association. This is Poinciana’s longest running youth sports organization. If you have a child interested in playing football or cheerleading ages 3 -14, or if you are interested in coaching, slots are still available. The fees are $75 for flag and $175 for tackle football, and $250 for cheer. Conditioning starts Saturday, Mar. 4 at 6 p.m. at Vance Harmon Park (50 Country Club Road). My Soccer Academy is currently holding registration for its toddler class, Under-6, U-9, U-13 and U-15. Children aged 2-16 are eligible. My Soccer Academy meets at Deerwood Community Park (4051 Laurel Ave.) Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 6-7 p.m. The program has both recreational and competitive leagues. Florida’s severe Weather Awareness Week takes place Feb. 3-7. In partnership with Osceola Emergency Management, youths aged 6 -11 can enter the Severe Weather Awareness Challenge. Draw, paint or digitally create an original work of art about Florida’s sometimes severe weather. Illustrate what to do to prepare in one of these severe weather categories: lightning, marine hazards and rip currents, thunderstorms and tornadoes, hurricanes and flooding, extreme temperatures and wildfires. All artwork should include a written safety message to help teach others about severe weather safety and preparedness.

The winning artist will be invited to the Osceola County Emergency Operation Center to celebrate and their work will be shared across the County on social media and displayed at the winners local Library.
Also at the Library, learn to take the power back from uncomfortable situations by becoming aware of the situations around us on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 12-1 p.m. at Be The Hero – Active Bystander Intervention, presented by the Victim Service Center of Central Florida.
Bring school age children (ages 6 to 11) to the Library on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 4:30- 5:30 p.m. Bingo for Books Junior allows you to win Bingo and grab great books.

Several Advisory Boards in Osceola County are looking for residents to join and help shape the future of the community. In addition to county-wide boards, there are two District 3 exclusive Boards: the Board of Adjustment and Library Advisory Board. The Library Advisory Board meets the first Tuesday evening in the months of March, June, September and December. The Board of Adjustment meets on the third Thursday of each month. Board members must have knowledge in planning and land development. County wide Boards are the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Code Enforcement Board, Housing Finance Authority, Metro Plan Orlando, CAC and Sunrail Customer Advisory Committee.
