Join the Poinciana Library on June 21 at 3:30 p.m. for their Summer Solstice Spectacular. The Solstice marks the onset of summer and the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The Summer Solstice, also known as Estival Solstice or Midsummer, occurs when one of the earth’s poles has its maximum tilt towards the sun. Celebrate the longest day of the year at the library through crafts, trivia and discovering how other cultures honor this yearly occurrence.

Early Birder Days at Disney Wilderness Preserve (2700 Scrub Jay Trail, on the west shore of Lake Russell) will be on June 25 at 7 a.m. Early Birder Days are for anyone that wants to access the Preserve earlier in the day to hike or observe wildlife that are more visible in the cooler, early morning hours.
Disney Wilderness Preserve is a beautiful place right in our backyard. Visitors can enjoy the unique experience from hiking through the longleaf pine and wetland habitats just after sunrise. This is not a guided experience and there is no registration in advance required.
Save the Date! District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington will host a free drive-thru Summer Food Distribution on June 25 at St. Rose of Lima Church, (3880 Pleasant Hill Road). Food will be distributed from 10 a.m. to noon. Meal packages will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis to the first 600 families, while supplies last.
