POINCIANA NEWS — Holidays: First up, Halloween

Trick or Treat Bingo Night happens on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Poinciana Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.) Doors open at 6 p.m., first ball pulled at 7 p.m. Dress in costume! The concession stand will be open, 10 games for $5 and cash prizes. Bingo Night is 18 and up. No outside food or drinks.

 

JRT Elite Travel Basketball Team will hold tryouts on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Mary Jane Arrington Gym. Grades 3-5 tryouts are at 6 p.m. and grades 6-9 tryouts are at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Joshua Mojica at 857-265-6864.

 

Don’t miss the Holiday Market with over 45 vendors on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Mary Jane Arrington Building, 625 Country Club Dr. Come support local businesses and crafters while getting a head start on holiday shopping.

 

Get Hired! Essential Job Skills Series takes place on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 10-11 a.m. at the Poinciana Library. Build or polish your resume, craft a standout cover letter and master interview skills.

Knowledge is power! Read for your Rights Trivia takes place on Friday, Oct. 10 from 2-3 p.m. Celebrate your right to read by exploring challenged and banned books. This is for adults 18+.

On Saturday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. teens can Ink Outside the Lines. Celebrate your freedom to read in this blackout poetry workshop, where you will transform old book pages into expressive works of art.

The Poinciana Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave. All Library events are free and open to the public.

 

Poinciana Health Fair, a Senior Wellness event, will be held on Friday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Anthony DePalma Center (395 Marigold Ave.). It will include free health screenings and information, a hearing test, healthy lifestyle and nutrition information and local vendors. The Poinciana Council’s Poinciana Festival is back. This day of community fun and celebration takes place at Valencia College - Poinciana campus, 3255 Pleasant Hill Rd. on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
