Poinciana News: Food trucks and a pumpkin patch — after Ian

As of this writing, Hurricane Ian is brewing in the Gulf. Stay safe and come together as a community. The following events should be taking place after all the storm effects are long gone.

It’s not the Great Pumpkin — it’s the Green Lakes Pumpkin Patch Poinciana. Green Lakes Farm (3705 S. Poinciana Blvd.) its presenting its second annual Pumpkin Patch — a spot to enjoy many Fall activities. Take a hay ride to the pumpkin patch, carve and decorate your pumpkin, kids may enjoy pony rides, train rides, a bounce house, slide and kid’s carnival rides. Wrist bands for children are $35, adults $15. Green Lake Farms Pumpkin Patch is open every Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3-7 p.m. For ticket (and weather availability!) information call 407-653-6431.

First Fri-yay! The first Friday Food Trucks are back on Oct. 7 at the Poinciana Community Center parking lot (445 Marigold Ave.) from 5-8 p.m. Come ready to eat!

Songs of Hope, Bringing Community Together Through Songs, takes place on Oct. 8 from 4-6 p.m. This late afternoon musical inspiration will take place at the Vance Harmon Park Amphitheatre (625 Country Club Dr.).

The U.S. Center for the Education & Development of Elite Athletes is presenting an adult basketball league for players ages 25 and up. The start date for this league is scheduled for Oct. 23. Games will be played at the Poinciana Event Center (4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road.) The fee for a team of 10 players is $200. The season of seven games (two playoffs) played in 20-minute running halves (except for the last 2 minutes of the second half). The seasons winning team will receive free entry to the next season.
