Poinciana Medical Center goes to no-visitor policy

Today is the first day of school in Osceola County. Motorists, please be aware of extra traffic, and stop for school buses. Have a great 2021-22 school year everybody!

Last week, Osceola County Commissioner Chairman Brandon Arrington went to several schools in district 3 to distribute backpacks filled with supplies. School Administrators will distribute the backpacks to those students in need. Arrington made stops at Reedy Creek Elementary School, KOA Elementary Schools, Deerwood Elementary and Chestnut Elementary School for Science and Engineering so that the supplies will be available as school starts.

 

As of Friday, Poinciana Medical Center has instituted a no-visitors policy hospital wide. This is to protect their patients and staff, as well as the public, to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses. The exceptions are a parent or guardian for pediatric patients and a support person for patients with disabilities or impairments warranting assistance.

 

Poinciana Youth Sports Association (PYSA) Junior Magic Basketball is currently registering youth ages 6-17 for its fall season. Fall season starts Sept. 11 and runs through October 30. Practices and games will be held at Poinciana Christian Preparatory School (4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road). Central Florida Healthcare, Inc. will return to Poinciana Medical Center's visitor parking lot at 325 Cypress Parkway on Tuesday Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. They will be offering both COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.

The group will be offering the first of two Pfizer vaccines for children ages 12 to 17 and the Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine for adults 18 and up. Screening and testing will not be conducted by Poinciana Medical Center, but rather by Central Florida Healthcare, Inc.
