Osceola County District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington will host a drivethru Food Distribution on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (3880 Pleasant Hill Rd.) This Thanksgiving meal distribution will consist of turkey dinner boxes. Boxes will be given to the first 600 families on a first come, first serve basis.
These are challenging times, and this will make a good Thanksgiving for those that are hurting the most.
Deerwood Elementary School’s inaugural Farmers Market will take place Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the school at 370 Marigold Ave. The market will feature artisanal crafts, gifts, produce and more. There will also be giveaways and free samples. This is a chance to support DeerwoodElementary, local farmers and small businesses.
The event is presented by Love Makes Me Grow, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides a 9-week course in the core values and importance of learning how to live off the land. Its mission is to teach diverse communities the value and importance of living off the land. They promote and develop the social and economic growth of the individual, regardless of limitations and barriers.
The Association of Poinciana Village’s (APV) 28th annual Christmas Parade and Celebration will be held on Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Applications are now being accepted for those who would like to participate. Floats, crafters, food trucks and vendors are welcome. Following the parade, the Holiday Celebration will begin and continue through 2 p.m. at the Vance Harmon Park Amphitheatre (625 Country Club Dr.) The celebration will have live music, pictures with Santa, vendors, crafters, food trucks, Battle of the Bands and more.
