Poinciana - All the info on APV’s Holiday Celebration — from Santa to Chestnuts

The 29th Annual Association of Poinciana Villages’ (APV) Christmas and Holiday Celebration takes place on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The most anticipated event wraps up APV’s 50th anniversary celebration.

This family friendly event is annually attended by more than 1,000 Poinciana residents. The parade usually features 50 floats, marching bands, civic and school organizations. The 11 a.m. parade route makes its way along Cypress Parkway ending at Vance Harmon Park.

Immediately following the parade, the Holiday Celebration at the Amphitheater at Vance Harmon Par (625 Country Club Dr.) begins. These festivities, emceed by Carol Saragusa, are complete with food trucks, live music by La Calle Band and a fourpiece Christmas caroling troop, inflatable bounce houses, stilt walkers, face painters, balloon art, crafters, vendors, a Battle of the Bands and more. The holiday celebration would not be complete without the return of Santa and Mrs. Claus. All attendees will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with this holiday’s favorite couple.

Parking is provided offsite at the APV Activity Campus (445 Marigold Ave.) APV is providing a 14-passenger bus as a shuttle to transport attendees to and from the event site every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To ensure the safety of float participants and parade viewers, there will be no parking at the event site or on Country Club Road for handicapped parking.

On Saturday, residents should note that the following streets will be closing at 10 a.m.: Country Club Court, Chip Court, Trophy Lane, South Flag Drive, South Flag Court, Country Club Road between Doverplum and Caddy Lane, and Doverplum between Cypress Parkway and Country Club Drive.

District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington is hosting Party with Santa on Saturday, Dec 10 from 3- 5 p.m. at the Valencia College Poinciana Campus (3255 Pleasant Hill Road). Celebrate the Christmas season with a photo with Santa, music, cookies, giveaways, pony rides and free toys for kids. Children must be present to receive a gift – while supplies last. Party with Santa is an outdoor event.
