March means St. Patrick’s Day and, this year, Easter!

We know the City of St. Cloud knows how to do New Year’s Eve … now it’s going to show it’s green chops for St. Patrick’s Day!

Saturday, St. Cloud’s St. Patrick’s Paint the Cloud Green Light Parade Party will be from 7:30 to 11 p.m.  The parade will start at the Lakefront, go down Pennsylvania Ave. to 11th St. and back up Massachusetts Ave. to the Lakefront. 

The downtown street party, after the parade, will feature Paradigm Party Band, dance performances and food trucks.

And, the Irish theme isn’t just for one weekend. Downtown St. Cloud presents the St. Cloud Celtic Festival, a family-friendly evening celebrating Irish heritage takes place on Friday, March 22 from 5-9 p.m. on New York Ave.  The evening includes food, vendors, live music, Celtic dance and drinks. There will be crafts for children as well as face painting.  The local downtown eateries have prepared a menu of traditional Celtic foods, drinks and desserts. 

 

On Saturday, March 23 there will be a new Farmer’s Market in downtown St. Cloud.  The Farmer’s Market is located at Pennsylvania Ave. and 9th St. (in front of City Hall) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will be over 50 vendors offering a variety of local honey, meats, breads, sweets, coffee and more.

Then we seamlessly got from St. Patrick’s Day into Easter. The Hopkins Heroes Easter Eggstravaganza will be held on Saturday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hopkins Park (620 E. 17th St.). Kids can enjoy face/henna painters, snow cones, cotton candy, arts and crafts, music and a visit with the Easter Bunny. Egg hunts will be sectioned by age group and there will be a special needs egg hunt area.  There will be gift bag giveaways (while supplies last) and raffle tickets will be available for purchase.

For those looking for some adult Easter fun, an Adult Moonlight Egg Hunt happens Friday, March 22 from 7-10 p.m. at Peghorn Park. Adults 21 and up can partake in fun games, egg hunt, dance, music, 50/50 raffle, vendors and food trucks.

The 30th Annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill takes place March 23-24 at 2700 Chisolm Park Trail beginning at 9:30 a.m. both days (battle begins at 2 p.m.).  Admission is $10 for adults, $5 ages 5-11 and 5 and under are free.

See authentic artillery, cavalry, infantry, sutlers and children’s activities. Education Day is on Friday, March 22 at 9:30 a.m. This event features live interaction with speakers and re-enactors of the Civil War Era.  As per their flyer, “Be educated, entertained and fed!”  Students and chaperones, $5 admission which includes lunch.  For Education Day, register at JacobSumerlin1516@gmail.com.

March is Auto-Immune Awareness Month.  To raise attention to these more than 80 types of auto-immune diseases, the City of St. Cloud will host a Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 a.m. at the Marina Banquet Hall, 1104 Lakeshore Blvd.  Adults 18 and older may attend. The fee is $1, reservations are required. To register, go

 

Dance into the world of interactive story telling with Books & Ballet on Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at the St. Cloud Library, 810 13th St. The Orlando Ballet will be presenting this in celebration of Women’s History Month.  This story time is for ages 6-11.
