Lake Lizzie Preserve – South Marsh Loop will be the spot for an early morning hike on July 23 from 8-11 a.m. Presented by the Pine Lake Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society, this hike will be in an area that was converted from cattle ranching and turpentine production to a nature preserve. This is an opportunity to explore one of Osceola County’s first conservation projects.
The Lake Lizzie Preservation Area consists of several parcels purchased with funds from both the State and The Environmental Lands Conservation program (ELCP), formerly known as SAVE Osceola. This 1,076-acre preserve is located between St. Cloud and Harmony.
Hikers will meet at 6495 Old Melbourne Hwy., in the south parking lot. Dress appropriately and bring (plenty of) water. For more information and register, go to fnps-pinelly. eventbrite.com/.
