While numerous towns and organizations in Florida are cancelling or curtailing their usual Pride celebrations this summer, including a St. Cloud event last week, the City of Kissimmee invites everyone to join in the annual PrideFest Kissimmee event at the Kissimmee Civic Center on Saturday, June 3, from 12-4 p.m. PrideFest is a celebration grounded in welcoming, awareness of, and acknowledging the impactful contributions of the local LGBTQ community. Come out and enjoy food, live music, craft vendors, local artists, and activities that are fun for the whole family.

And, if you’re looking for a fun event in the evening, the City of Kissimmee’s Dive in Movie series will show “Puss in Boots” at 7 p.m. at the Bob Makinson Aquatics Center on Denn John Lane. Summer swimming lessons are also available at the Center. For more information call 407-870-7665.

The Silver Spurs Rodeo rides back into town for the 151st time this weekend on Friday and Saturday night. Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association events include bull riding, bronco riding, roping, and barrel racing. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit community charities in Osceola County. Tickets are $20.

Those with a green thumb (or those who want one) should consider joining the Master Gardener Volunteer Program at the UF/IFAS Extension Service on June 5 from 11 a.m. to noon at Osceola Heritage Park. Learn how Master Gardeners deliver horticultural information to residents on designing, planting and caring for plants and landscapes in a “Florida-Friendly” way. The session is free but advance registration is required at ocagriculture.eventbrite.com.

Among the many activities at the Hart Memorial Library in Kissimmee this summer, check out, or participate in, the Open Mic Night (for young adults 12-18) on Thursday, June 8 at 6 p.m. Share musical talents, spoken word, artist abilities or just relax and enjoy an evening of soulful delights! Everyone is welcome to participate.
