The founding of Kissimmee 140 years ago will be celebrated with the Kissimmee Birthday Bash and Kowtown Festival this Saturday, March 18, from 12-4 p.m. at Kissimmee Lakefront Park. The free event will have vendors, food trucks, and live music. A Kids Zone will have fun games and activities for the littler ones.

 

LEGO fans will be able to gawk at the plastic-piece creations, meet with professional LEGO artists and shop with vendors selling the latest LEGO accessories, sets and even hard to find and retired LEGO products at the LEGO Fan Expo at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee March 18-19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. Ticket info is available at brickconvention.com/ Orlando.

 

Library events this week include: Tea and Tolkein on March 25 from 12-1:30 p.m. Answer riddles, play games and create a dragon egg celebrating Tolkein Reading Day, supplies and light refreshments provided.

The No Pressure Book Club meets March 29 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This month’s theme for the adult group is “Once Upon a Time.” Pick a fairy tale or myth retelling to talk about. There’s no assigned reading or formal questions.

The Influential Women in American Literature continues Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. This week’s discussion will focus on Amy Tan. Choose any work by her to share in a roundtable discussion.
