Saturday, Kissimmee residents were transported to a world where their favorite characters from comic books, TV, films and games came alive. Fandom Kissimmee attendees got to experience local and national touring comic convention booths at the Kissimmee Civic Center. Fans enjoyed snacks and a full service bar while being able to wander booths that had a little something for everyone.

“Fandom Kissimmee was such a good time! A really good free event that’s close by. Happy to see my favorite indie creators there. They even had a maid café, and the snacks were pretty good,” said event goer Ovin Armando Reyes.

Among many of the artists at Fandom Kissimmee, Cesar Feliciano and Jaiver Lugo, displayed their terrific pieces for the fans to admire. Jaiver Lugo offered a poster that fans could get entering Fandom Kissimmee, perfect for autographs.

“We thank Kissimmee for a great fun show for all ages,” said comic artist Cesar Feliciano. “Many people from Florida were introduced to my works and bought some of my books and art. The cosplay was fun as well. Looking forward to more shows.”

Fandom kept all fans entertained with cosplay contests, panels of authors, artists and guest speakers. For the youngsters, Osceola Library offered a “Make a Comic Workshop” allowing participants to learn the art of making a comic of their very own.

Elayna Barrison, one of the fantasy authors at the event, tours the country showing off her work. Her series of Effluvium is popular among readers around the country.

“These cons, both big and small, are my best investment as a writer,” Barrison said. “While they won’t work for ‘every’ author, and I am sure I’ll have some ‘flopped’ conventions as well, for me they really are the best way to get my books out into the world.”

Reports are that Fandom Kissimmee will be back again next year.
