COVID-19 vaccines and testing, physicals, backpacks and supplies available at Back to School event Saturday

Osceola Community Health Services (109 N. Doverplum Ave.) will host a Back-to-School event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event will feature discounted pricing school physicals ($15) and sports physicals will be $25. There will also be COVID-19 vaccines and testing.

The first 50 students receiving either physical will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. To make an appointment call 407-943-8600, or visit www.osceolahealthcare.org. Masks are required at the event.

Central Florida Healthcare, Inc. will return to Poinciana Medical Centers’ visitor parking lot at 325 Cypress Parkway on Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. They will be offering both COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.

The group will be offering the first of 2 Pfizer vaccines for children ages 12 to 17 and the Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccine for adults 18 and up. Screening and testing will not be conducted by Poinciana Medical Center, rather by Central Florida Healthcare, Inc.

Poinciana Neighborhood Crime Watch is hosting a Hurricane Preparedness presentation. Polk County Emergency Management will present this important seasonal topic.

The speakers will discuss how residents can prepare their home, children and pets for hurricane season. This Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting will be held at the Association of Poinciana Villages Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. For more information, email MNegronsr@gmail.com.

The School District of Osceola County’s Back to School Transportation Parent Hotline will be open for calls, in English and Spanish, over a three-week period.

The Hotline will be open this week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The following 2 weeks, August 9-20, the Hotline will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As a reminder, parents and students are required to wear a face mask at all times while riding the bus.

In addition to the Transportation Parent Hotline, parents can select the “Let’s Talk” tab on the school districts website, www.osceolaschools.net., to ask transportation or back to school questions.

In order to support community service, both the Transportation Parents Hotline and the Let’s Talk online platform will remain active throughout the school year.
