It’s almost time, the first day of school is Aug. 10! Here are some events to put on your calendar.
A free Back-to-School Immunization Event for Osceola County students needing TDAP (Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis) will be on July 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bellalago Charter Academy (3651 Pleasant Hill Road). No appointment is necessary.
Bring your child’s recent immunization record, birth certificate or passport or other government issued ID. Parent/Guardian with a valid ID must accompany their child.
Poinciana’s Walmart (904 Cypress Pkwy.) will be hosting a Back-to-School event on July 29 from 4-6 p.m. Back-to-School giveaways will be distributed while supplies last. Local community organizations will be in attendance. While there, parents can check out Walmart’s clinic, to set up school physicals for their children.
The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) is hosting a Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 5 from 6-9 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.)
This fun, free family event includes a Laser and Bubble Show. There will be backpack giveaways, bounce houses, food trucks, face painting, a DJ dance party, craft table, vendors and more.

The Polk County’s Sheriff ’s Office Back to School Bash will provide 750 backpacks as well as school supplies to local students on July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Poinciana Community Park (5109 Allegheny Road). Several units of the Polk County Sheriffs agencies will be represented as well as other community agencies. Current sponsors for this event are: Polk Sheriff ’s Charities, Publix, FDOT, The Freedom Tour, Walmart, Amazon and Florida’s Natural. Vendors who provide a service may apply and be a part of the “2022 Bash”, but those who sell products are not able to apply. District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington, will host a free Drive-Thru summer food distribution on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (3886 Pleasant Hill Road). Meal packages will be given to the first 600 families. Packages will be distributed one per car in this stay in your car drivethru event.
