All the info for APV’S big 5-0; new Deerwood Spring Fling date

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary Saturday with a big bash from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Complex. Here’s some of the details:

At the Anthony DePalma Center (395 Marigold Ave.), stop in and take a peek of the 50-year historic display. Indulge in birthday cake commemorating this half century mark.

The Kids Zone will be on the fitness field. Youngsters can enjoy inflatables, face painting, a D.J. and lawn games. Inside the Fitness Center, watch a Zumba demo instruction presented by the Exercise Club at noon. At 12:45 p.m. there will be a line dance instruction presented by the Exercise Club. Inside the Community Center (425 Marigold Ave.), there will be giveaways. Dunkin’s Munchkins (limited quantity) and 100 free car washes, sponsored by Dunkin Donuts and Radiant Car Wash, will be given away. There will also be 360° Photo Booth sponsored by Main Event inside the Community Center.

The On-Spot Dermatology Bus, as well as OneBlood’s Big Red Bus, will be in the parking lot.

All the Centers at the Activity Complex will be open for tours. The Poinciana Community Center will be full of vendors. Residents are also invited to make their mark on a painting of APV’s Tree Logo, on a large canvas that will be on display.

Deerwood Elementary School’s Spring Fling will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year’s “Fling” has a Hawaiian Theme – Aloha! – it’s a LuaU! There will be food, drinks, hula leis, fun, music and other performances. Deerwood Elementary School is located at 3701 Marigold Ave.

 

Did you know that the Osceola Library System now offers a professional Social Worker as an outreach to connect citizens with community resources, programs and services? Social Worker Matthew Jarmon will offer individual and family assistance with referrals to different agencies. Jarmon will be available at the Poinciana Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every other Saturday.

The Social Worker project is funded by the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Service and administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.
