UPDATE, 4:20 P.M.: An arrest was made in a shooting death Monday night on Arisha Drive, near the intersection of Oren Brown Road and Poinciana Boulevard.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez said Tuesday that Gany Narimanovich Djurabayev, 42, of Uzbekistan has been arrested, and will be charged with murder. He is a permanent resident and had no criminal history.

Lopez said he shot fellow Uzbekistani Bekzod Nishonboev, 31, here on a work visa that expired in March, after the two argued over $5,000 earmarked for a property down payment. After a physical fight, in which Djurabayev had wounds on his face, he went to his vehicle to get a firearm and shot Nishonboev around 8:30 p.m. Monday. They were friends and neighbors at one point.

Lopez noted the suspect transported the victim to the hospital, an oddity.

“It’s a first for me. I’m thinking it was guilt,” he said.

Deputies investigated and found them at the hospital, and Lopez said Djurabayev made spontaneous comments that he shot Nishonboev, who died soon afterward.

“All parties have been cooperative this whole time,” Lopez said. “All the resistance was at the scene. Was $5,000 worth it? Why it escalated to this, we don’t know. Take it to court, not into your own hands.”
