School district updates learning options

The Osceola County School District has an update regarding learning options for students during the first semester of the 2020-21 school year.

Schools will continue to accommodate parent requests for students to digital learn or face-to-face learn through noon Sept. 18. After the 18 at noon, no changes will be allowed through the first semester. This is necessary so that schools can establish stability.

Parent request for changes to digital learning or face-to-face learning for the second semester can be made during the week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 4.

Central Florida Healthcare (CFHC) will be providing walk-up and drive-through COVID -19 screenings and testing from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The testing will be held at Poinciana Medical Center, 325 Cypress Parkway.

Living Water Fellowship, 4101 Pleasant Hill Road, will hold a drive through food distribution on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 9 a.m. Food distribution is for the first 400 households, no walkups are permitted. One box per family. Food will need to be refrigerated. Each box contains: fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, cheese, milk, butter and a large bag of pre-cooked chicken strips.

Ask a Doc:, a series sponsored by Poinciana Medical Center, has two online events this month.

On Monday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m., the topic for Ask a Doc will be diabetic wound care. Board certified general surgeon Dr. Owen Kieran will discuss diabetic wound care and surgical complications from diabetes on Facebook Live. Tune in and have your questions ready!

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m., the Ask a Doc topic will be Medical Conditions and causes of anal pain. Board certified colon and rectal and bariatric surgeon Dr. Cesare Peraglie will discuss medical conditions and causes of anal pain.
