Public meeting on Orange Blossom Trail upgrades Oct. 16

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is looking for public input into planned improvements for Orange Blossom Trail from Mary Louis Lane near the former Tupperware headquarters south to Old Dixie Highway, including the Donegan Avenue intersection.

FDOT’s plans include repaving the travel lanes and shoulders to improve rideability and safety, and replace pedestrian curb ramps.

At Donegan, proposed work includes upgrading or replacing the existing traffic signal heads, reconstructing the northeast and southwest corners with new curb and sidewalk, and upgrading pedestrian signals. New “Turning Vehicles Yield to Pedestrian” signs and adjustments to signal timing to give pedestrians additional time to cross while all directions of traffic are stopped are included.

An in-person open house about the work will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Hart Memorial Library in downtown Kissimmee. Attendees will be able to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions.

FDOT is also offering an online webinar at 5:30 p.m. to watch a project presentation and submit written questions or comments using the webinar questions box. To attend using this option, register at https://bit.ly/US_441_VPM. Comments or questions must be logged by Monday, Oct. 27 to have the comments included in the open house record.

Project assets are available online for both parts of the project at www.cflroads.com/ project/452879-1 and www. cflroads.com/project/450435-1.
