Liberty High school monitor arrested after fleeing cops from campus

Suspect wanted for warrant after inappropriate conversations with two students

A man previously employed as campus monitor at Liberty High School was arrested after fleeing police while being questioned about inappropriate activity with students.

Justice Jones, who turned 30 the day the investigation began Sunday, was arrested and charged with attempted sexual battery on a victim under 16-17 years old and fleeing and eluding a traffic stop. He is being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail.

According to police, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a parent of a Liberty High student on Sunday regarding inappropriate conversations between the student and an adult campus monitor later determined to be Jones, who had been terminated from Osceola County Public Schools two days prior for an unrelated issue and returned to his residence in Vero Beach.

Based on the complaint, OCSO detectives had a warrant signed for the arrest of the campus monitor. Police say Jones returned to the school late Thursday afternoon and was approached by Sheriff's deputies. Police say Jones initially remained in his vehicle, but then fled from deputies, first north on Pleasant Hill Road then onto John Young Parkway. Before nearly reaching U.S. Highway 192, Jones was arrested after he got caught up in traffic and deputies surrounded his vehicle.

Detectives are asking anyone that had any inappropriate interactions with Jones at Liberty High or feel that they may have been a victim to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at 407-348-2222.
