KVLS Fair silent auction benefitting accident victim’s family

The opening of the Osceola County Fair this week has had a somber tone mixed in with the excitement of the event.

Victoria “Tori” King, a 16-year-old 4-H member, was critically hurt in a car accident returning home from tending to her animals. She was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she eventually passed away from her injuries.

She was scheduled to show her animals, and other 4-H members have been and will be showing those animals during the fair. 4-H youth showing their own goats and hogs over the weekend wore purple ribbons and armbands in support of King.

A silent auction, set up by other 4-H friends and family, will run in the KVLS conference room and will go on through the end of the Fair Sunday as a fundraiser for King’s family. Boxes in the KVLS office and near the concession stand will also be available for those who wish to make monetary donations.

At Friday’s official Fair opening, the Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show inducted its newest Lifetime Members, Rebecca Kemp and Jamie Burrow.
