A Tampa area man was killed early Saturday morning when he was collided with twice on eastbound Interstate 4, Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to a crash report, just after 4:15 a.m. the 65-year-old man from Lutz driving a Kia Sportage was rear-ended by the Subaru WRX driven by a 30-year-old Lakeland man approaching the State Road 429 interchange.

The impact caused the Kia to rotate and come to a stop disabled across the center and outside lane. Shortly after, a Jeep Wrangler occupied by an Apopka couple failed to see the Kia and collided with its driver's side. The impact sent the Kia onto the shoulder, and it collided with the median.

The Kia driver was transported to Celebration Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, FHP said. The Subaru driver was not injured and remained on scene. The couple in the Jeep was transported to HCA Florida Hospital Osceola; the passenger sustained serious injuries.

The crash shutdown the eastbound lanes through the morning, with traffic diverted onto County Road 532. The lanes re-opened later in the morning.

The crash remains under investigation.
