It’s Back-to-School Open House time! All Osceola students and parents are encouraged to attend their schools Back-To-School Open House to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.

These in-person open houses will take place according to the following schedule: Monday, August 9 – all high schools will have open house from 4 to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, August 10 – all middle schools and K-8 schools will have open house from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, August 11 – all elementary schools will have open house from 4 to 7 p.m.

The State of Florida requires that students be up-to-date on immunizations to attend school. The Florida Department of Health in Osceola County will be hosting an immunization event at Bellalago Academy, 3651 Pleasant Hill Road today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. COVID-19 vaccines will also be available. Appointments are required. Call 407-343-2000 to schedule your appointment.

As a reminder, the Summers Over Back to School Bash will be held at the Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) Fitness Center, 397 Marigold Avenue on Aug. 3 from 5-8 p.m. As students get ready for the start of a new school year, they can celebrate safely with a live DJ, games, giveaways, prizes and more. Vendors who are interested in participating can register online.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 cases are surging. According to Dr. Don Elton, MD, Pulmonary Disease Specialist at Poinciana Medical Center, “Active hospitalized COVID cases in Poinciana are at the highest level since the pandemic began.”

Last year, there were no vaccine options. In 2021, they are free and available at places such as Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target and your local community health centers, etc.

“We still encourage people with non-COVID issues to come to the ER, if needed,” Dr. Elton went on to say.
