It's Gator Week.
The annual tradition at Wild Florida Adventure Park begins Monday and runs May 25-30, coinciding with the last week of school in Osceola County. Wild Florida dedicates an entire week to one of Florida’s most iconic animals, the American alligator while raising funds for graduating Osceola County high school seniors.
During the week, Wild Florida in Kenansville will offer fun, interactive and safe experiences like live demonstrations and feeding shows to guest appearances by some of its longtime reptile residents.
Here's a list of the daily signature events for Gator Week:
Monday, May 25 – Feeding Frenzy: The show dives into what really gets alligators jumping as they snap up their favorite types of food.
Tuesday, May 26 – Rock Your Crocs: Wear Crocs to the park and receive free feed for the alligators and crocodiles in the Gator Pond.
Wednesday, May 27 – Jump-Like-A-Gator Competition: Inspired by the powerful vertical jumps of real alligators, meet up at the Gator Pavilion at noon. Whoever can launch the highest wins a Wild Florida-themed prize.
Thursday, May 28 – Gator Slushie Drinking Contest: Again at noon, participants will see who can finish an orange slushie the fastest, without using their hands. Entry is first-come, first-served for another Wild Florida-themed prize.
Friday, May 29 – Obstacle Relay: On National Alligator Day, Fluffy’s “cousins” will take on Wild Florida's obstacle course in a lighthearted race filled with waddles, dashes and plenty of photo-worthy moments! Meet near the Recreational Area (#6 on the map) at 1 p.m. to see which “cousin” wins and pose for pictures with one of the racers.
Saturday, May 30 – Golden Gator Egg Hunt: Find the Golden Tickets. There will be three golden gator-themed eggs hidden around the Gator Park by 9 a.m.: one filled with Drive-thru Safari Park tickets, one filled with Gator Park tickets and the third one will be filled with airboat tour tickets.
Daily events include the Gator Call Competition, the Exotic Animal Show and Keeper Chats with the Croc Squad daily at 1:30 p.m. outside the exhibits of some of the newer, more exotic crocodilian species that don’t normally get featured during the animal shows.
During Gator Week, admission to the Gator Park is free with a cash donation to Wild Florida Cares, which provides funds for the April and Ranier Munns Wild Florida Scholarship Fund for graduating Osceola County high school seniors. For an additional $5 guests can spin the prize wheel for chances to win animal feed for the Gator Pond, Barnyard or Bird Aviary
“Gator Week is one of our favorite times of the year because it gives families a chance to experience Wild Florida in a fun and meaningful way,” said PJ Brown, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer. “Offering free admission with a donation to our scholarship fund allows our community to enjoy these incredible animals while directly supporting local students and their future. It’s a great reminder of what can happen when people come together for a good cause.”
