Didn't get around to voting during early voting, still have your Vote-By-Mail ballot, or do you prefer to vote on Election Day as a habit or tradition?
As of 7 a.m., the polls are open today to vote in the primary election and do your privileged civic duty through 7 p.m. (If there is a line, and you are in it by 7 p.m., you will be able to cast your vote.)
First, you must go to you your assigned polling precinct -- double-check it, as it may have changed due to recent redistricting. If you don't where it is offhand, you can find it on the voter information card (or sample ballot) that was mailed to you. Don't have that handy? No problem. You can go to the Polling Locations page of the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) at: https://www.voteosceola.com/Voter-Information/Polling-Locations. Click "Voter Information Lookup", enter your name and date of birth and -- if you are a registered voter in Osceola County -- it will list your location.
Do you still have your mail-in ballot. First off, DO NOT PUT IT IN THE MAIL TODAY. In must arrive to the SOE office today (the postmark is irrelevant), so you have two choices:
1. Bring it in person to the SOE office at 2509 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee FL, 34744. It's in the plaza at U.S. 192 and Partin Settlement Road. You will be able to put it in a secured ballot box for counting.
2. Go to your assigned polling precinct, as above. You will be able to surrender your mail-in ballot and will receive a ballot to fill in in-person.
So, that's it. Go vote and be counted in this VERY IMPORTANT election. While registered Democrats will decide their challenger for the Governor's race, there are many local races on this ballot. Two Kissimmee City Commission seats (40 percent of the board!), and at least one and possibly two more School Board seats (60 percent of that board!) are up for grabs today. In addition, St. Cloud voters will choose in a four-way race for a City Council seat, and voters around the county are voting to narrow down the field for one of four State Legislature seats.
If you aren't registered yet, you have some time before the Nov, 8 general election. The deadline for being registered to vote that election is Oct. 11. Go to www.VoteOsceola.com for all the details of where and how to register.
