50% chance of thunderstorms through Sunday

A 50 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms will come back into the forecast from Thursday through Sunday, and of course it will be hot and humid with afternoon highs ranging from the upper 80s to low 90s and dropping to around 70 at night.

District forming plan on re-opening schools safely

The Osceola County School District is in the process of formulating a plan to re-open schools as safely as possible. A School District Backto-School Task Force, which was recently formed, collected online surveys from parents to better help steer the path of the plan.
At the last distribution on May 7, 800 cars, representing 1,241 families and 3,131 household members, received 47,000 pounds of food by day’s end.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Food Pantry will host a food distribution on Thursday, June 18, from 10 am to 3 p.m. People experiencing food insecurity during the pandemic are invited to come and receive food.  Cars can arrive and park at the St.

SENSES Park honored with national award

Osceola County’s SENSES Park, which was designed for kids with autism, recently scored an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo).  The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.
All programming has been creatively adapted to cater to allow for social distancing, and falls under the categories of Academic Excellence, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida reopen 15 clubs in 5 counties

With strict new health and safety protocols in place, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida this week has reopened 15 of its Clubs to serve children across the region.
