Harmony Middle School to close for 2 weeks due to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted multiple staff members at Harmony Middle School during this past week. The Osceola School District has worked closely with the Department of Health, and at this time, there is no evidence of any secondary transmission to students.

About 51% of students return to classroom for back to school

A little more than half of Osceola County School District students decided to return to the classroom on the first day back to school on Monday. Superintendent Debra Pace said about 51 percent of students were welcomed back in the classroom with face coverings due to COVID-19.
It was an election that saw Marcos Lopez defeat incumbent Russ Gibson in the sheriff ’s race; and Kelvin Soto beating incumbent Armando Ramirez in the Clerk’s Office contest.

Primary election numbers highest in 26 years

The percentage of registered voters for the Aug. 18, primary election in Osceola County was the highest in 26 years, according to Supervisor of Elections Mary Jane Arrington. Of the 226,348 registered voters in Osceola, 53,891 ballots were cast equaling 23.81 percent.
