Semi-truck fire closes Turnpike south of Kissimmee Park Road

Florida's Turnpike was shut down for in both directions for over four hours Monday morning just south of Kissimmee Park Road due to a semi-truck crash and fire. Troopers were on scene of a crash that occurred at 5:50 a.m. in the southbound lanes at mile marker 237 and involved two semi-trucks.

Arrests made in July 1 fatal shooting at West U.S. 192 hotel

A pair of brothers have been arrested in the July 1 shooting death of a woman believed to be the wife of one. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has arrested Kaylan Vega, 24, and charged him with first-degree murder of a 20-year-old woman at the Red Carpet Inn on West U.S. Highway 192.

Rent and utility assistance now available for disabled seniors

Osceola County is now offering rental and bill pay assistance for disabled seniors. The applications can only be submitted on paper, according to County Commissioner Peggy Choudhry. The program provides direct payments to landlords and utility companies for up to six months.
