Kissimmee Commission amends policy on budgeted travel

The City of Kissimmee has made changes to its policies regarding spending city funds on travel.The Commission Tuesday unanimously voted to require an itinerary and preliminary expense report be presented to the Commission prior to the travel being approved.

Kissimmee Fire Department unveils cutting-edge training simulator

The Kissimmee Fire Department can now train firefighters on trucks and other lifesaving apparatus to provide a top-level of training and allow responders to know what they’re doing before they do it in real life.KPD unveiled it Wednesday.

Construction at the front of Kissimmee City Hall — including the city’s iconic memorial to past employees, now disassembled for relocation to make way for the work — didn’t put a damper on an annual tradition to recognize those remembered on the statue.

Former Kissimmee Mayor and Osceola County Commissioner Jim Swan — a man who proclaimed to “participate in politics” rather than be a politician — passed away Saturday at the age of 74.

Kissimmee’s Church Street nearing completion

Here’s good news for those who use Church Street in Kissimmee, particularly to go east toward Neptune Road: the project to fix parking, drainage and accessibility is slated to be completed on-time in mid-September.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Monday announced the appointment of a longtime Kissimmee city official to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board. Kissimmee Economic Development Director Belinda Kirkegard has replaced local developer Domingo Sanchez to fill Osceola County’s seat on the seven-member board.
