Orlando City SC came within a minute of a road win at BMO Field on Wednesday night, but Toronto FC defender Matheus Pereira scored in the 89th minute to hold the Lions to a 3-3 draw.
Orlando fell behind in the 26th minute when Lewis Morgan headed in a cross from Theo Corbeanu.
Martín Ojeda brought the Lions level in first-half stoppage time. Pereira handled the ball in the penalty area, and Ojeda converted the penalty with a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner to send the teams into halftime tied 1-1.
Toronto went back in front four minutes after the break, when Corbeanu finished from the right side of the six-yard box off Dániel Sallói's pass.
Orlando answered again in the 76th minute after a spell of pressure from corners. Iago Teodoro headed a set piece into Antoine Griezmann's path, and Griezmann volleyed left-footed into the bottom left corner. VAR reviewed the goal and let it stand.
Daryl Dike then gave Orlando its first lead of the night. The forward came on for Harvey Sarajian in the 67th minute and scored 16 minutes later, taking Iván Angulo's pass and driving a right-footed shot into the top right corner for a 3-2 lead.
The lead lasted six minutes. Djordje Mihailovic forced Orlando goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau into a save from outside the box, and moments later Pereira beat Crépeau low to the bottom left corner.
Orlando controlled the ball with 62.6% of possession but struggled to turn it into clear chances. Toronto outshot the Lions 16-14 and put seven attempts on target to Orlando's four. Crépeau kept Orlando in the match with four saves, including a stop on Benjamín Kuscevic's header in the 81st minute. Kuscevic also hit the post in the 66th minute.
The draw came a month after Orlando's 3-0 win over Toronto on Sept. 12. Orlando sits seventh in the Eastern Conference with 38 points and has already clinched a place in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
The Lions return to Inter.co Stadium on Saturday to host D.C. United at 7:30 p.m., the first of two straight home matches before road trips to Chicago and Charlotte as the tumultuous 2026 season nears its end.
