The parents of a toddler that a good Samaritan found wandering on a Narcoossee area road late Saturday night have been arrested.
Johnny JeanBaptiste, 36, and Stacia McMillian, 32, have been arrested and charged with one count of child neglect without great bodily harm.
According to an Osceola County Sheriff's Office report, deputies responded to the area of Jones Road and Talisi Loop at 11:39 p.m. in reference to a toddler found wandering in the road. A woman driving in the area noticed the male toddler, wearing a diaper and a tank top, walking in the middle of Jones Road, Sheriff's spokesperson Capt. Kim Montes said. The woman brought the child to safety before calling 911. The 2-year-old boy was "unharmed but was scared and crying," Montes said.
Deputies went door-to-door in the area to look for where the child belonged and found an open front door at a Talisi Loop home. There was no one in the residence but deputies found a picture of the child to confirm they had the right address, Montes said. Deputies attempted to contact JeanBaptiste was contacted by a deputy via cell phone, and he reportedly hung up on the deputy. He and McMillan arrived back at the residence in a Toyota Corolla. Both parents were uncooperative with deputies on scene, Montes said, and were arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
A grandparent took possession of the toddler following Florida Department of Children and Families notification.
A search of Osceola court reports show no prior arrest record for either parent in Osceola County.
