Troopers seeking a silver Ford Edge that may have been involved
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the vehicle that would have been involved in a fatal crash with a pedestrian on West U.S. Highway 192 before dawn Friday morning.
Troopers say a man ran from the south shoulder of 192 into the traffic lanes, not in a crosswalk, near International Drive just before 3 a.m. The unidentified driver, traveling westbound, struck the pedestrian and left the scene.
The vehicle in question is described as a silver 2007-2010 Ford Edge with a black top. The vehicle should have front right headlight and hood damage; parts of it were found at the crash site, FHP said in its report. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact FHP at *347 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
FHP has not identified the male victim.
Troopers remind people that leaving the scene of an accident, especially a deadly one, carries added consequences once it becomes a hit-and-run investigation.
If involved in a crash, stay at the scene, call for help, and follow these steps from FHP:
1. Make sure you and any passengers are okay. Remain calm.
2. If possible, move to the side of the road. Remove your keys if you get out of your vehicle, move off the roadway, and stay in a safe area.
3. Check on others involved. Call 911 if anyone might be injured or a vehicle is inoperable.
4. If there are no injuries or major property damage, gather information. Get the name, driver license, insurance, and tag information from the other driver(s). Take photos of the vehicles and information if you can’t write it down and then file a report online.
