A 5-year-old visiting from Brevard County discovered at the bottom of a pool died Monday at a vacation rental in Davenport, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office reports.
According to police, deputies responded to an Airbnb, off Takeaway Way, off Westside Boulevard near the ChampionsGate Country Club, just after 1 p.m. for a child that was located at the bottom of the pool. Deputies began life-saving measures on the unconscious child, by performing CPR until fire rescue arrived on scene. The boy was transported to Celebration Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Deputies say the child was with extended family and was in the pool with other children.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
