September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and for families living through it, awareness isn’t some slogan. This is their real life. Join the community for the third annual Brooklyn Rose 5K Family Fun Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 a.m. at the St. Cloud Lakefront. The race is run in memory of Brooklyn Rose Medina, a local Diffuse Midline Glioma (DIPG) warrior.
Funds raised from this year’s race will benefit Brooklyn’s Petals of Hope which provides direct financial assistance to families facing diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma/diffuse midline glioma (DIPG/DMG), the most lethal form of pediatric cancer. Every person who signs up, donates, sponsors, or just shows up for this race helps us do something good in Brooklyn’s name for families going through hell.
Brooklyn’s Petals of Hope Foundation helps ease those burdens by assisting families with needs such as:
- Transportation expenses to and from treatment centers
- Monthly mortgage payments
- Utility bills
- Bereavement support
- Funeral expenses for families who have lost a child
