Veteran's Voice — Veteran resource event Sept. 21 in St. Cloud

In recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September, the Veterans 1st Community Partners Coalition (V1CP) will host a special veterans resource event on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the McCormick Research Institute, located on Rummell Road in St. Cloud.

This event is designed to support veterans and their families by providing access to a wide array of local resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about services and programs related to education, employment, food security, housing, and benefits. FourBlock Provides Free Employment Resources for Veterans: FourBlock is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping transitioning service members, Veterans and military spouses succeed in meaningful careers while delivering America’s workforce needs, with a suite of in-person and online programming designed specifically for individuals at every stage of their transition.

Twice a year, transitioning service members and Veterans can apply to participate in FourBlock’s flagship Veteran Career Readiness Program. Available in select cities, including Tampa, and online, participants receive one-on-one coaching, expert guidance, connections to employers, and, upon completion, a customized, actionable career search strategy. Similarly, FourBlock’s dynamic Military Spouse Career Readiness Program supports military spouses looking to return to work or pivot into new careers.

VA redesigns Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry with simple opt-out procedures for those who wish to not participate: The Burn Pit Registry is a database that combines Veteran and service member data to help the VA better understand, research, and ultimately improve treatment for the health challenges faced by Veterans exposed to airborne hazards and burn pits during their military service.

If you enrolled in the registry any time before the launch of the redesign, you will be automatically rolled into the new registry.
