Tunnels usually lead to some interesting places. The donation tunnel located at Goodwill at 3052 Dyer Blvd. in Kissimmee, which just opened back in August, is doing just that.

Last week, employees held the ribbon cutting for Goodwill’s first ever “Donation Tunnel,” which will make drop-off, drive-through donations easier.

“It is such an honor to be a part of this innovation we created,” said Central Florida Goodwill CEO Ed Durkee. “The drive-through donation tunnel will be staffed so that people can quickly donate and not have to worry about leaving their vehicle and the donation center is attached directly to the store itself serving a multi-purpose of ease for donations and store front.

“The idea for this has been in the works for some time. The store itself has been open for a few months, that was when the store manager came to me addressing that we could put a drive-through tunnel right through the store, and with the permission of the building manager we were able to make that dream come true. If you thought the Osceola Village store couldn’t get any better, we have some exciting news for you. The first-ever donation tunnel is now open for your convenience.”

The tunnel goes towards Goodwill’s motto of “Building lives that work”. The tunnel is open during normal store hours (9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday), rain or shine.
