As part of a previously approved phased plan to increase solid waste rates gradually over a five-year period to keep up with rising landfill costs, the city of St. Cloud will raise its monthly residential solid waste fees by 33 cents.

Effective Jan. 1, residential customers will pay $20.02, up from $19.69 per month for curbside garbage collection. Commercial rates also increased by 3 percent.

Special pickup charges increased from $12 to $12.42 for the first two cubic yards, and from $6.50 to $6.73 for additional cubic yards.

At the Transfer Station, the minimum rate increased to $2.33.Vehicles coming from inside the city limits with garbage to the transfer station pay $52.66 per ton, and those coming from outside the city limits pay $61.09.
